Chris Smewing, PhD, C.Psych, AFBPSs.

Professional Minds is headed by Dr Chris Smewing, a business psychologist and ICF accredited coach. He combines a strong academic background with extensive practical experience of working as an HR specialist and business psychology consultant.

Chris’s main areas of expertise are leadership assessment (for appointment, promotion, or potential)  coaching (work or personal), and leadership development.  He works with teams and individuals to help them recognise and develop their skills, to get greater satisfaction and meaning from their work, and to be able to contribute more.

Chris has worked with many types of organisations, both private and public sector, across Europe and Asia. He spent his early career in Human Resource Management working firstly for London Transport, and then Allied Lyons. This was followed by six years as a research fellow at  the University of Nottingham and then Birkbeck College, during which time he was awarded his PhD. He has been working as a consultant since 1997 

He is an Associate Fellow and  past Chair of the Occupational Section of the British Psychological Society. He is a member of the International Coaching Federation,  and is also an Associate of the Adair Leadership Foundation.

As well as his consultancy work, Chris is also an honorary research fellow at Birkbeck College
